Boyle Commits!
Congratulations to Nobles defenseman Tim Boyle on his commitment to Union College! Tim played for High End Hockey this past summer and went on the win the Massachusetts Midget Select League in the fall to secure a spot in the 2012 U18 National Championships with the Cape Cod Whalers. Joining him at Nationals will be fellow Nobles/Cape Cod teammate and HEH alumni Andrew Doane who is committed to Brown University.
HEH Brings On Nordiques!
High End Hockey is proud to announce they have merged with the New England Nordiques summer program. The Nordiques have been the area’s premier summer hockey program for the past 4 years, playing in tournaments across New England and Canada. In the past four years the Nordiques have had over 200 different young players compete wearing the Nordiques colors. Over thirty players from Nordiques teams have gone on to play at Division 1 NCAA Colleges.
HEH Teams Up with Neponset Valley River Rats
High End Hockey has teamed up with the Neponset Valley River Rats to provide skills the River Rats mites through bantam teams. Every Tuesday night at the Foxboro Sports Center the HEH staff will be working with players to enhance their playing ability. We have also decided to open up these skills to players outside of the River Rats organization, walk on players will be able to skate with their age group for only $20. Skills include skating, passing, shooting, team play and a game at the end of every session. Mites/Squirt minors skate 6:10-7pm, Squirt majors/Pee-Wee minors 7:10-8pm and Pee-Wee majors/Bantam minors 8:10-9pm. Sessions will be capped at 40 players so sign up early. Gillies named USHL Goalie of the Week!
Jon Gillies has been named USHL Goalie of the week, Gillies is currently in his 2nd year with the Indiana Ice. The Northeastern recruit has played with the New England Nordiques for the past two summers and will play with High End Hockey this coming summer. Here is the write up from USHL.com: Gillies posted a 1.50 goals-against-average and a .957 save percentage as he helped the Ice pick up two wins against Dubuque during the weekend. He made 26 saves in Friday’s 6-1 victory. Although his team was outshot 43-20 on Saturday, he equaled a season high with 41 saves in the 3-2 win to earn his USHL leading 12th victory of the season. The 17-year-old from South Portland, Maine is currently tied for second amongst League goaltenders with a .922 SV%.
HEH Players Garnering Attention...
Congratulations to current NH Jr Monarchs defenseman Ben Kaplan and his family on his recent committment to Holy Cross! Ben played for High End Hockey this past summer at the Hub Cup Showcase. Also, congratulations to Matt Solomon of the Boston Bandits on being named Offensive Player of the Week. Solomon led the Bandits to two wins this past weekend with a 1-5-6 line. Matt is currently 2nd in defensive scoring with 7 goals, 20 points in 25 games.
Cordier Comes East
After starting the season with Cowichan Valley in the BCHL, Christian Cordier felt a move east would do him good. After graduating from Berkshire School last summer, the '92 dman thought he would try hockey out west. He quickly realized the EJHL would be best for him. Last week, Cordier made his debut with the New England Huskies and looks to garner more college attention now that he is in their backyard.
